Why isn’t there something in place to create a more supportive environment for single parents like me?
As a single mother, I work hard every day to provide for my two children. I take pride in my work and in being able to support my family, but the reality is that my income just isn’t enough. What’s even harder is not being able to spend the time I want with my kids. They’re growing up fast, and I feel like I’m missing out on so much of their lives.
I don’t have a big family nearby who can help out, so it’s just us. I can’t help but wonder why there isn’t something in place that truly supports single parents. I need to work, but I also need to be there for my children. It’s incredibly frustrating because I know that strong family bonds and healthy child development are so important. I want to be an exceptional mother, but it feels almost impossible with my work responsibilities.
Why can’t we have more flexible work schedules, subsidized childcare with fees based on income, or better parental leave policies? Why isn’t there more financial support for low-income families, so we don’t have to choose between paying bills and spending time with our kids?
I know there are other parents out there in the same situation, doing their best but feeling stretched too thin. We need a society that values family time and supports parents in more meaningful ways.
I don’t know how this can be achieved but there has to be a better way to balance work and family, and it’s time we make that a priority.
